Formula E was the fifth most followed motorsport across the 16 markets surveyed by Ampere in Q4 of 2024, with 11% of motor racing fans saying they follow the series. Formula E fans skew younger than the average across motorsport; overall, 35% of Formula E fans were aged 18-34, compared to 28% of Formula One fans.

Formula E’s slightly younger fanbase (compared to that of other motorsport competitions) means that willingness to pay to watch it is relatively low – which explains why Formula E’s media rights strategy prioritises free-to-air coverage.
