Nascar signs partnership with Powerball

Stock car racing series gets official lottery game.

US stock car racing series Nascar has signed a partnership deal with American-based lottery Powerball.

Contract:

  • Powerball to be official lottery game of Nascar
  • US$1 million lottery prize will be drawn at season-ending race

Context: Powerball is an American lottery game offered in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. More than half of all proceeds from the sale of a Powerball ticket remain in the jurisdiction where the ticket was sold.

Comment: Daryl Wolfe, executive vice president and chief revenue officer of Nascar, said: “Powerball creates millionaires every year, and we can’t wait to see the different winning opportunities this partnership will bring to our loyal fans throughout the country.”

Coming next: Nascar and Powerball will create a season-long promotion, culminating in one lottery player winning a US$1 million prize in a live broadcast at the season-ending Phoenix Raceway event.
