McLaren Racing swap Castore for Puma in new F1 kit deal

Multi-year partnership also covers IndyCar, WEC, F1 Academy and sim racing teams.

McLaren Racing have unveiled German sportswear giant Puma as their new team kit and apparel partner, replacing British brand Castore.

Key details:

  • Multi-year deal will see Puma create kit for all McLaren teams, including in Formula One, IndyCar, World Endurance Championship (WEC), F1 Academy, and sim racing
  • Puma to also produce replica and lifestyle collections
  • Pair will collaborate on immersive fan experiences, such as special events and product drops
  • First fan experience to debut at season-opening Australian Grand Prix

Context:

Puma takes over from Castore as McLaren’s kit and apparel partner. Castore initially launched a clothing collection with McLaren Automotive at the end of 2020 before later partnering with the team’s Formula One operation from 2022.

Since then, Castore has continued to expand its presence in Formula One, partnering with Red Bull and Alpine. Earlier this month, the brand signed a multi-year kit and retail agreement with Haas.

The deal with reigning constructors’ and drivers’ champions McLaren further deepens Puma’s ties to Formula One. The company has been an official licensee of the series since 2024 and partners with Ferrari and Aston Martin.

Comment:

“Our sport is in incredible shape and it’s been fantastic to see an influx of major fashion and lifestyle brands who are looking for deep and meaningful ways to engage with our growing global fanbase,” said Zak Brown, chief executive of McLaren Racing.

“I cannot think of a better partner than sportswear giant Puma to help us supercharge our portfolio of fan wear. We know fans want to express their passion for our sport both at and away from track, and Puma’s innovative approach to design and culture will offer exciting collections and experiences worldwide.”

Arthur Hoeld, Puma’s chief executive, added: “At Puma, we are very proud of our long and successful history in motorsports and having worked with some of the greatest drivers and teams in the industry over the past decades. It is a great honour to write the next chapter by welcoming McLaren Racing, the 2025 constructors’ and drivers’ champions, as our new partners.

“We are looking forward to many successful races together and engaging with the team’s passionate fans around the world to create inspiring collections for them that show the best both brands have to offer.”
