IndyCar has expanded its global broadcast reach for 2023, with coverage of the US open wheel series now available in 223 markets across 142 countries.

Confirmed:

  • IndyCar Live direct-to-comsumer (DTC) service to broadcast races, practices and qualifying rounds in territories not covered by international partners
  • Coverage will be available in Czech Republic and Slovakia for the first time this year, through a new broadcast partnership with S Sport
  • Series recently struck a multi-year broadcast agreement with Canadian sports network TSN to air eight races on its linear channels and all 17 Grands Prix on the TSN+ subscription streaming service.

Context: The single-seater racing championship first launched its IndyCar Live over-the-top (OTT) platform last year through a partnership with StayLive, a subsidiary of Stockholm-based sports agency Spring Media.

Comment: Mark Miles, president and chief executive of Penske Entertainment, said: “This season, 15 nations are represented by our full-time field of 27 entries, which is the most since 2011. The global reach of Indycar is as important as ever as we reach new audiences with an expanding fanbase.

“It’s very gratifying to continue our relationships with existing partners and increase visibility with our new ones.”

Consequence: The upcoming 2023 IndyCar season gets underway on 5th March with the Firestone Grand Prix in St Petersburg, Florida.
