Extreme E pens Ocean Bottle partnership

Collaboration will work towards removing equivalent of 1m plastic bottles from ocean.

All-electric off-road SUV championship Extreme E has signed a multi-year partnership with Ocean Bottle.

Confirmed:

  • The collaboration will look to remove the equivalent of one million plastic bottles from the ocean
  • Partnership gets underway ahead of the 2024 Extreme E season

Context:

Extreme E has already purchased an initial 250 bespoke versions of the brand’s BOB bottle range, which is the equivalent to the removal of 250,000 ocean-bound plastic bottles. The bottles come embedded with an NFC-enabled smart chip, which allows owners to register the bottle to the Ocean Bottle mobile app to further fund the collection of ocean-bound plastic (for free) each time a refill is registered, thus delivering positive steps towards climate action.
