E1, the electric powerboat championship set to debut this year, has signed media rights deals in the UK and the US.

Confirmed:

  • CBS will air the 2024 season on CBS Sports Network in the US
  • In the UK, ITV will broadcast racing across ITV4 and ITVX
  • E1 is also set to stream on YouTube for a global audience

Context:

This represents the latest step in E1’s broadcast strategy after it sold media rights in Latin America, sub-Saharan Africa, Saudi Arabia, and the wider MENA region earlier in January.

Broadcast agency Aurora Media Worldwide will be producing E1’s live racing, highlights and behind-the-scenes content from this season as the series bids to establish its identity.

Comment:

Rupert Hunter, chief commercial officer of E1, said: “We are proud to be delivering a global event with two of the world’s broadcasting heavyweights that will take E1 to audiences in the UK and North America.

“These broadcast deals are of great strategic importance to E1 and we believe CBS Sports and ITV are perfectly positioned to deliver the drama of our World Championship racing proposition.”

Coming next:

The inaugural E1 season gets underway in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on 2nd and 3rd February.
