Australian motorsport series Supercars has revealed an expanded 13-round calendar for its 2025 season.
Confirmed:
- Racing will return to Queensland Raceway for first time since 2019
- Calendar will run from 21st February to 30th November
- Sandown event shifts to November after Gold Coast 500
Context:
Supercars last held 13 races in 2022, but the series has not yet been able to get back to the size of its pre-Covid schedule. For example, Supercars held 16 races back in 2018 and 15 a year later.
That said, the series is still seen as an attractive proposition for manufacturers, as evidenced by the announcement that Toyota has signed a five-year deal to race in the championship from 2026.
Comment:
Supercars chief executive Shane Howard said: “The expansion to 13 events not only brings back Ipswich but solidifies Supercars’ national and international footprint.
“We’re thrilled about the strategic additions and shifts in the calendar, including moving Sandown to a November date and debuting an endurance round at The Bend.
“We’re incredibly excited to announce the return of the Ipswich event in 2025. After a few years off the calendar, we know fans in southeast Queensland have been eager for its return.
“Queensland Raceway has had significant upgrades, and the August event will be one to mark in the calendar to attend at a truly revitalised venue.”
Coming next:
The 2025 race formats, television schedule and support category details will be announced in the coming days in the lead-up to the Bathurst 1000 at Mount Panorama from 10th to 13th October.
