Nitrcross has put the remainder of its 2024/25 season on an ‘indefinite pause’.
Confirmed:
- Upcoming events in Phoenix, Miami and Las Vegas postponed
- Announcement stops short of a cancellation, but further information will be communicated at an ‘appropriate time’
Context:
On the surface, this doesn’t appear to be the end of Nitrocross but it is a significant setback for a series that was making noise about being the fastest-growing motorsport in North America – the series told BlackBook Motorsport as much only a month ago.
Racer reports that the series’ owner, Thrill One, has undergone a management change recently that has led to an internal review of the long-term feasibility of Nitrocross. There are reportedly already plans in place to secure the long-term future of the series.
Comment:
A Nitrocross statement read: ‘Unfortunately, we must announce that upcoming events in Phoenix, Miami, and Las Vegas, have been paused and will not continue as scheduled. Any further news on the 2024/2025 season will be communicated at the appropriate time.
‘If you have purchased tickets for any of these events, rest assured that you will receive a full refund automatically via Tixr. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work through this process.
‘We remain committed to exploring new opportunities for the future of Nitrocross and motorsports. Thank you for being with us on this journey, and we will see you again soon.’
Coming next:
The series is now in limbo until more information is communicated, with the races in November, January and March now no longer going ahead.
