- Kazakhstan GP originally slated for 2023 debut
- Delayed from original June 2024 slot due to flooding
- If race is ultimately cancelled again, Qatar is not in line to replace it
MotoGP remains determined to hold the delayed Kazakhstan Grand Prix this season amid reports it will drop off the calendar.
Reports emerged last weekend that the race was on the verge of being cancelled for the second time this season, with Qatar stepping in to replace it.
However, sources close to MotoGP management have told BlackBook Motorsport that this is wide of the mark.
While there are no guarantees that the race will go ahead as planned, series organisers are making every effort to ensure the event can make its long-awaited debut.
If the worst happens and the decision is taken to move the race elsewhere, then Qatar will not be an option to replace it.
The inaugural Kazakhstan Grand Prix, originally planned for 16th June, had been postponed until later in 2024 due to flooding. The race was set to debut in 2023 but was cancelled due to ongoing homologation works. Currently, the race at Sokol International Racetrack is scheduled for September.
MotoGP has already lost the Argentinean and Indian Grands Prix to cancellations this season.
