IndyCar has confirmed a new race at the AT&T Stadium, home of the National Football League’s (NFL) Dallas Cowboys, for the 2026 season.
Confirmed:
- Grand Prix of Arlington will take place in March 2026
- Race will also take in Globe Life Field, home of Major League Baseball’s (MLB) Texas Rangers
- Veteran motorsport executive Bill Miller announced as president of the race
Context:
IndyCar chief executive Mark Miles revealed to BlackBook Motorsport that the series was “close to adding” a new major event for the 2026 season back in June, and this has proven to be true with a statement street race being confirmed.
This is a much-needed boost for IndyCar after it was forced to move this year’s season finale in Nashville, another street event that was planned around an NFL stadium. With that race moved to Nashville Superspeedway, and the oval circuit looking likely to remain the home of the finale for at least the next two years, IndyCar executives will be happy to land another marquee event.
IndyCar famously raced at Texas Motor Speedway between 1997 and 2023, so local fans will also be glad to see the return of the series to the Lone Star State.
Comment:
“Through a truly remarkable and innovative partnership, we’re going to build racing’s next global spectacle,” said Roger Penske, chairman of Penske Corporation.
“Everyone involved is fully committed to delivering an incredible and unique event weekend for the city of Arlington, anchored by the stars of the NTT IndyCar Series. We’re grateful to the Cowboys, Rangers and REV Entertainment for entering into this partnership with us, and, of course, to Arlington’s leadership team for their excitement and ongoing support.”
Coming next:
With the 2025 calendar already locked in, the Grand Prix of Arlington will have to wait for its official debut. There isn’t a concrete date outside of March 2026, but this means that IndyCar will avoid the hectic NFL season, which runs from September to January.
