Formula E has announced its all-female test in Valencia will return for a second year.
Confirmed:
- This year’s test will feature two sessions, up from only one last year
- Each team will again be required to field at least one woman in the test
- All drivers will be using current race car with the same team support on offer as their male counterparts
Context:
The extended test will give the women involved the chance to share data alongside the 22 male drivers who make up Formula E’s current roster, allowing them to demonstrate their abilities with the latest race technology on equal terms and in the same race cars.
Comment:
“Building on the success of last year’s pioneering all-women’s test, we’re excited to make the event even bigger and more impactful by extending it to a full day of testing involving two lengthy test sessions,” said Alberto Longo, cofounder and chief championship officer of Formula E.
“Our goal is to continue breaking down the barriers to entry for women in motorsport and provide them with an equal opportunity to showcase their skills, driving the same cutting-edge technology as the rest of our championship drivers.”
Coming next:
The test will take place at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain on 30th October.
