Formula E expands 2025/26 schedule to record 18 races

Next season will feature all-new circuits in Madrid and Miami.
  • Formula E departs Homestead-Miami after one season
  • Series notes it will be first motorsport world championship to visit Madrid in 37 years
  • Two yet-to-be-announced slots, one of which will be an all-new location for Formula E

Formula E and the International Automobile Federation (FIA) have unveiled a record 18-race schedule for next season.

The 2025/26 campaign starts with the São Paulo E-Prix on 6th December 2025 before Formula E’s traditional season finale at the Excel in London on 15th and 16th August 2026.

This may be the series’ last visit to the Excel after a one-year extension was announced earlier this year, though previous attempts to move to a different venue in the UK have proved unsuccessful. Silverstone and Brands Hatch are rumoured destinations.

Next season will feature new circuits in the form of the Miami International Autodrome and the Circuito de Madrid Jarama.

The switch to Miami represents the third new circuit in the US in three seasons for Formula E, but the series’ visit to Homestead-Miami Speedway was always intended as a temporary solution. The Miami International Autodrome established four new track layouts towards the end of 2024 to attract more motorsport series beyond Formula One.

“This calendar is our most competitive yet, blending exciting new and existing venues with legendary circuits that define Formula E,” said Jeff Dodds, chief executive of Formula E.

“With greater attention on calendar stability, we’re becoming easier to find, engage with and attend, unlocking greater fan loyalty and love. Our debut in Madrid and increase in total races demonstrates our mission and intent to continually grow the series in key markets, while racing at Miami’s International Autodrome takes our US presence to another level at a world-class facility.

“As we continue to see year-on-year growth of our global fanbase and TV audiences, this calendar is certain to deliver even more exciting racing from our world-class drivers and teams for our fans to get behind.”

Formula E has hailed its visit to Madrid in March as ‘the first world championship motorsport event held in the city in 37 years’. Formula One’s much-publicised new race in the city takes place next September.

The remainder of the calendar remains unchanged but the order of the races has been somewhat shifted, with Berlin now taking place in early May as opposed to mid-July.

The Monaco E-Prix moves to slightly later in May following the decision to shift the Formula One Monaco Grand Prix to the start of June, while Formula E’s visit to Japan is now the penultimate round of the season.

There are two empty slots awaiting confirmation but there is currently little detail on potential destinations, although BlackBook Motorsport understands one will be an all-new location for the series.

One race that has not carried over from the current season is the Jakarta E-Prix, but this could yet be announced in the other ‘TBA’ slot.
