F1 Academy has unveiled its 2025 schedule, including a new season finale in Las Vegas.
Confirmed:
- Seven-round schedule features first-time visits to China, Canada and Las Vegas
- The calendar will be supported by a 15-day testing programme
Context:
This will be the third season of the pioneering all-female series and the second in full support of the Formula One calendar. Since its launch, F1 Academy has experienced a rapid rise in attention, especially with brands such as Charlotte Tilbury, American Express and Tommy Hilfiger throwing their support behind it.
The question remains around the trade-off between visibility and on-track experience. The 15-day testing programme is crucial, but only holding two races on traditional circuits appears misguided for a Formula Four-level championship. The gaps between races will also make audience momentum difficult to maintain, so it will be interesting to see how F1 Academy tackles this challenge.
Ultimately, with barriers to entry in motorsport still incredibly high, it’s hard to know what more can be done to level the playing field right now. F1 Academy is doing so much good work in showing young girls what can be possible, and the Netflix docuseries launching in 2025 should hopefully amplify this message further.
Comment:
“I am proud to announce our F1 Academy 2025 calendar, which demonstrates our continued commitment to taking the series to new heights, expanding our global reach and bringing our mission to an increasingly diverse and engaged global audience," said Susie Wolff, managing director of F1 Academy.
"I want to thank our promoters for their enthusiasm and support, and for joining us on our journey to create opportunities for women to thrive at every level of our sport.
"Finishing our season in Las Vegas will be an iconic moment, and its addition to the calendar is testament to the wealth of support we receive from Formula One and Liberty Media.”
Stefano Domenicali, president and chief executive of Formula One, added: “F1 Academy continues to go from strength to strength, delivering brilliant on-track action for our fans and inspiring young girls and women around the world.
"We are seeing huge interest in the series, and it is fantastic that the calendar features new venues and once again spans three continents, meaning we can continue to build our audiences and connect with fans around the world.
"I would like to thank our race promoters who continue to support F1 Academy so passionately. What has been achieved in just two years since the series was launched has been incredible, and I cannot wait to see the cars hit the track again next year.”
