Extreme E extends Fox Sports’ US rights deal

Contract will also cover Canada and Caribbean until 2024.

Electric SUV off-road racing series Extreme E has signed a two-year extension to its North American broadcast deal with Fox Sports.

Contract:

  • Fox Sports will continue to screen Extreme E across the US, Canada and the Caribbean
  • The deal covers the 2023 and 2024 campaigns

Context: Fox Sports first committed to Extreme E back in 2019, almost two years before the sport for purpose championship even staged its first race. Interestingly, the initial deal was said to cover the first three campaigns, so this two-year extension likely includes revised terms for the upcoming 2023 season.

Comment: Ali Russell, Extreme E chief marketing officer: “The deal signifies a major commitment by a sports broadcasting powerhouse, further underlining the ever increasing popularity of our championship’s thrilling on track spectacle as well as the human stories behind the racing.”

Coming next: The third season of Extreme E kicks off from 11th to 12th March, but the point of focus for the series will be to maximise its broadcast distribution and grow its audience as it looks to stand up against more established electric series.
