Sports streaming service DAZN has agreed a five-year broadcast deal with the eSkootr Championship (eSC).
Contract:
- Action from the fledgling series will be available through the platform’s free tier
- The contract covers 200 territories from the start of eSC’s 2024/25 season
Context:
After its debut season in 2022, eSC went quiet. Indeed, there was there was a 15-month gap between posts on its official website. But, in May of this year, the e-mobility series began making announcements about new teams. The 2024/25 schedule has not yet been revealed, but DAZN’s release claims the season will comprise six races across three continents.
DAZN has clearly been trying to pad out the motorsport offering in its freemium tier, having agreed a limited content deal with the World Rally Championship (WRC) and a short-term contract with E1 Series in recent months.
Comment:
Hrag Sarkissian, co-founder and chief executive of eSC, said: “We’re delighted to partner with DAZN to further expand the reach of the upcoming eSkootr Championship races for our fans. As motorsport disruptors, ease of access is one of our top priorities and DAZN’s free offer enables the racing series to reach a new global audience.”
Coming next:
While there is no official confirmation, the series is likely ramping up to get underway by the end of this year with it being referred to as the 2024/25 season.
