E1 Series reveals 2024 start date

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to host series’ debut from 2nd to 3rd February.

Electric powerboat championship E1 Series has revealed the start date for its inaugural season.

Confirmed:

  • Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, will host E1 Series’ debut from 2nd to 3rd February 2024
  • Event will be presented in partnership with the Saudi Ministry of Sport and the Saudi Water Sports and Diving Federation

Context:

The electric powerboat championship had already announced its provisional schedule for next season, with the likes of Venice, Monaco and Rotterdam all confirmed as destinations. With considerable investment from the country’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), Saudi Arabia will benefit from significant influence over the series.

Alejandro Agag, chairman and co-founder of E1 Series, said: “We are proud to partner with the Saudi Ministry of Sport and the Saudi Water Sports and Diving Federation to make this event possible and delight fans in Jeddah and around the world. The Jeddah Corniche will provide a spectacular backdrop for our debut event. I’m so pleased to be taking one step closer to our first E1 race.”

With up to ten teams due to compete in the inaugural season of E1 Series, there is set to be further owners announced before the curtain-raiser in Jeddah. Virat Kohli was the latest name announced, adding to a pool of athlete owners that includes Rafael Nadal, Tom Brady, Steve Aoki, Didier Drogba and Sergio Perez.
