Alfa Romeo agree technical partnership with R-M

Brand becomes exclusive technical paint supplier of F1 team.

The Alfa Romeo Formula One team have agreed a technical partnership with paint brand R-M, which is part of the BASF Group.

Contract:

  • R-M becomes exclusive technical paint supplier of the team
  • Agilis brand logo will be sported on the floor line of the car

Context: With fresh weight regulations in place for the new generation of Formula One cars, every gram saved in weight is important. All cars this season will show a large amount of exposed carbon fibre, with teams opting to paint the smallest area possible. R-M will use its expertise to further reduce the overall weight of paint on the Alfa Romeo cars.

Comment: Alessandro Alunni Bravi, managing director of Sauber Group and Alfa Romeo team representative, said: “With a high level of expertise and commitment, and a common goal towards efficiency and sustainability, R-M is the ideal partner for our Formula One operations. Their top-quality products, which will be employed on our 2023 cars, have set a new standard in paint weight reduction, and will be instrumental for us to gain further speed on track. I am looking forward to working with R-M and achieving outstanding results together.”

Coming next: Alfa Romeo's new paint scheme will be visible in a competitive setting for the first time this weekend at the Bahrain Grand Prix on 5th March.
