Production company Whisper will produce UK commercial broadcaster Channel 4’s free-to-air (FTA) coverage of Formula One until 2026.

Confirmed:

  • Channel 4 will sublicense Sky’s Formula One coverage until 2026
  • 2024 will see production revamped, with a 50 per cent reduction in carbon emissions
  • Whisper will continue to deliver two highlight shows during each race weekend, with five live shows across the British Grand Prix weekend

Context:

Channel 4 first partnered with Whisper in 2016, so this extension takes the relationship beyond ten years. The production company, co-owned by former Formula One driver David Coulthard, will also deliver the English-language coverage of the all-electric Formula E series from this season.

Comment:

Sunil Patel, chief executive and co-founder of Whisper, said: “It’s brilliant to continue to work with Channel 4 on F1. They are a pioneering partner who give us freedom to develop and evolve. Together we’re committed to reducing emissions while delivering the highest levels of creativity and entertainment for F1 fans in the UK.”

Coming next:

The Bahrain Grand Prix, the opening race of the 2024 season, takes place on 2nd March at the Sakhir International Circuit.
