The International Automobile Federation (FIA) has launched the next World Rally Championship (WRC) tyre tender for 2025.
Confirmed:
- Next contract will cover a three-year period from 2025 to 2027
- Submissions must be completed by 15th September
- Winner of the tyre tender will be notified on 19th October
Context: Pirelli is currently the official tyre supplier for the series, having won the most recent tyre tender. The four-year deal, which started in 2021, saw the Italian brand take over from long-time supplier Michelin.
Comment: Peter Thul, sporting director of WRC, told Autosport: “We will see what the competition will bring us and there are a lot of interested tyre companies.”
Consequence: The three-year period comes to a close just before the 2028 season, the year WRC is expected to announce a substantial shift in its regulations.
