WorldSBK sets 2024 schedule with one race outside Europe

12-round calendar begins in Australia, before racing in Europe for remainder of season.

The World Superbike Championship (WorldSBK) has announced its 2024 calendar.

Confirmed:

  • Season gets underway at Philip Island, Australia, the only race outside of Europe
  • Balaton Park Circuit in Hungary and Cremona Circuit in Italy join the calendar
  • Indonesia and Imola drop off the schedule

Context:

A world championship visiting one country outside of Europe is perhaps not ideal, with financial issues in Indonesia seeing it dropped and political reasons preventing Argentina from returning to the schedule. Just ten years ago, WorldSBK had four non-European races, so this is a worrying development for a series attempting to retain a global footprint.
