- Repsol and Honda first partnered in 1995
- Most recent contract extension was two-year deal signed in 2022
The long-standing partnership between Honda and Repsol in MotoGP will conclude at the end of this season, according to Autosport.
The collaboration began in 1995 and the pair signed their most recent contract extension in 2022. The two-year deal now appears to be the last between the Spanish energy giant and the Japanese manufacturer.
Following the departure of icon Marc Marquez at the end of last season, Repsol activated a clause in its contract to reduce its spend with the team in exchange for less visibility on the team’s bike.

This is not the first time rumours have surfaced of a split between Repsol and Honda, but the team is currently experiencing its lowest ebb sitting last in the constructors’ standings.
Repsol started up an advanced biofuels plant in Spain in early 2023 in preparation for MotoGP’s transition to 100 per cent sustainable fuels, so if the split does happen it may not be the end for the company in the series.
