F1: Racing Bulls to use AI for car design through Neural Concept partnership

Collaboration comes ahead of new technical regulations set to be introduced in 2026.

The Racing Bulls Formula One team have announced a new partnership with artificial intelligence (AI) engineering design platform Neural Concept.

Contract:

  • Neural Concept becomes an official supplier of Racing Bulls
  • AI platform will be used to accelerate the team’s car design and optimise aerodynamic performance

Context:

Neural Concept’s proprietary ‘Engineering AI’ platform complements traditional Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) with high-speed predictive simulations. Engineers can use digital twins to evaluate thousands of design variants across complex ‘multi-physics’ environments that mimic real-world track conditions such as wind and temperature differences. This will enable Racing Bulls to explore more designs.

The partnership comes after Racing Bulls moved to a new aerodynamics site adjacent to the main Red Bull team in Milton Keynes at the start of 2025. The team had previously been based in a dated facility in Bicester, with team principal Laurent Mekies describing the building as “too small for us, too old”.

Comment:

“In Formula One, every millisecond counts and innovation at the design stage can be the difference between leading the pack or falling behind,” said Mekies.

“By integrating Neural Concept’s cutting-edge Engineering AI into our aerodynamic development, we’re unlocking new levels of speed and precision in our design process. This partnership allows us to explore more design variants, ultimately giving us a competitive edge where it matters most.”

Coming next:

The partnership will aim to support the team in developing a competitive car for the upcoming technical regulations, which take effect at the start of next season
