The Nascar Cup Series audience for last weekend’s race at Texas Motor Speedway fell to 2.29 million viewers on FS1.
Key details:
- This year’s audience represents an 11 per cent decrease compared to last season’s audience of 2.56 million
- This is the second-lowest TV viewership of the season so far and the lowest-ever regular season audience for a race at Texas
- Nascar is now averaging 3.41 million viewers through 11 races, compared to 3.4 million viewers at the same point last season
Context:
While Texas delivered a disappointing TV performance for Nascar, executives will be content to see this year’s viewership keeping pace with last season. However, airing one more race on the main Fox channel compared to last year is likely a big contributor.
In fact, average viewership on the main Fox channel has fallen marginally from 4.52 million in 2025 to 4.45 million in 2026. At the same time, average viewership on FS1 has fallen from 2.55 million to 2.51 million. The slight shift in TV distribution this season has therefore influenced the average.
That said, Nascar is enjoying some promising returns on cable during its new TV deal compared to previous years, which will be a relief to those that were concerned about a more significant drop in viewership. There are now two races left on FS1 before Nascar switches to its midseason set of events hosted across Prime Video and TNT Sports.
