MotoGP chief commercial officer Dan Rossomondo is stepping down from his role with the global motorcycling series in January as part of a leadership transition.
The American joined MotoGP in 2023 from the National Basketball Association (NBA), where he served as senior vice president of global partnerships and media. He also had stints with Time Warner Global Media, the IMG agency and Madison Square Garden.
During his tenure, MotoGP has undergone a rebrand and built out its executive team with the appointment of managing director of global marketing Kelly Britain. It has also secured several notable commercial deals, including a multi-year broadcast agreement with Fox Sports in the US.
“I loved learning about this amazing sport and have become a genuine fan,” Rossomondo said. “Going forward, I will be cheering for its continued success from the US as I return home to spend more time with my family.”

News of Rossomondo’s departure comes months after US media giant and Formula One owner Liberty Media completed its €4.2 billion (US$4.9 billion) acquisition of MotoGP commercial rights holder Dorna Sports.
Following the takeover, MotoGP chief executive chief executive Carmelo Ezpeleta said in an interview with the Financial Times that growing the sport in the US was the “main goal” for the series, which has since partnered with the Two Circles agency to boost fan engagement in the market.
Rossomondo, meanwhile, told SportsPro on the back of the takeover that despite the success of Liberty’s ownership of Formula One, the company understood that the approach “has to be unique to what our sport is”.
Rossomondo’s replacement has not yet been named, but the eventual appointment will mark one of the first senior hires since Liberty’s takeover.
MotoGP said in a statement that Rossomondo will continue to provide strategic guidance to Ezpeleta and the organisation’s management team during the transition period ‘to ensure continuity’.
“Dan has been an important part of MotoGP’s commercial evolution and a trusted member of our leadership team,” Ezpeleta added. “We are grateful for his dedication and the positive impact he has made on the sport. We wish him the very best for the future.”
