Mercedes targets 100% biofuel logistics for European F1 season

Brackley-based outfit achieved 67% reduction in emissions during last year's European leg.

The Mercedes Formula One team are targeting 100 per cent biofuel logistics for the European leg of the 2024 season.

Confirmed:

  • Team to expand use of biofuel across their generators for trackside hospitality and engineering units
  • The motorhome will be powered exclusively by HVO100 biofuel
  • Biofuel will continue to be used to power the team’s fleet of trucks

Context:

The Brackley-based outfit targeted a fully biofueled season for the European races in 2023, with the initial target to achieve reductions of over 60 per cent in emissions. In the end, the team exceeded this goal by recording a 67 per cent reduction in emissions. The team have not set a target for an emissions reduction this year, only to build on the savings from last season.
