IndyCar’s Portland race secures BitNile.com title sponsorship

Length of deal unconfirmed but city's hosting contract expires this season.

IndyCar has secured BitNile.com as the title sponsor of the upcoming Grand Prix of Portland.

Confirmed:

  • The length of the deal is not confirmed, but Portland’s IndyCar contract expires this season
  • 29th running of the event takes place from 1st to 3rd September

Context: This is the first title sponsorship secured for the race since its return to the IndyCar calendar in 2018. The last title sponsor of the Grand Prix of Portland was Japanese automotive manufacturer Mazda in 2007.

Comment: Jerry Jensen, general manager of Green Savoree Portland, operator of the Grand Prix of Portland, said: “We are thrilled to welcome our new title sponsor and partner BitNile.com to the team. BitNile.com is already such a great supporter of IndyCar racing through their sponsorship of Ed Carpenter Racing.

“With this new partnership, we look forward to growing this event, building off a strong foundation of classic IndyCar races dating back to 1984, with invaluable support from BitNile.com.”

Consequence: This move further embeds the blended-reality platform BitNile.com in the world of IndyCar, having moved to sponsor Ed Carpenter Racing at the start of this season. Its continued involvement with the race in Portland will hinge on whether a contract extension is incoming.
