Juncos Hollinger Racing (JHR) and Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) have both struck new primary partnerships ahead of IndyCar’s Long Beach weekend.

Contracts:

  • JHR have teamed up with MannKind to drive diabetes awareness in a three-race primary deal
  • Root Insurance follows Marcus Armstrong to MSR for four races this season

Context:

MannKind will support the number 76 car of Conor Daly, the only known US motorsport driver competing full-time with type one diabetes (T1D), from this weekend’s race at Long Beach. The biopharmaceutical company previously partnered with Daly on a full-season deal in 2021 having first collaborated with the driver for the 2019 Indianapolis 500.

Meanwhile, Root Insurance has also returned to a previous relationship by following Armstrong to MSR. The firm was a primary sponsor on his car last season with Chip Ganassi Racing and remains a partner of the team in addition to this new deal. Root Insurance will be primary sponsor at four races this year starting from this weekend.

Comment:

“I look forward to sharing my T1D story through the renewed partnership with MannKind,” said Daly. “I can’t wait to get the No. 76 MannKind Chevrolet in motion in Long Beach this weekend to show living with diabetes doesn’t have to hold you back.”

“I’m excited to have Root back as a primary sponsor this year for four races,” said Armstrong. “I have a great relationship with the team at Root and I’m looking forward to continuing the partnership. Last year I scored my first-ever IndyCar podium with Root on the car in Detroit and hopefully this year we can add to those results starting with Long Beach.”

Coming next:

Following this weekend’s race at Long Beach from 11th to 13th April, both companies will return to their respective cars for the Detroit Grand Prix on 1st June.

MannKind makes its last appearance on Daly’s car at Gateway on 15th June, while Root Insurance has two more outings as primary partner at Laguna Seca (27th July) and Nashville (31st August). Both firms have agreed full-season associate sponsorship deals.
