IndyCar reunites with iRacing in multi-year licensing deal

Continues relationship that first began more than a dozen years ago following pact with Motorsport Games.

IndyCar has agreed a multi-year licensing deal with iRacing, reuniting the two brands.

Confirmed:

  • Contract includes the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the iRacing Indy 500
  • Licensing agreement is effective immediately

Context:

IndyCar parted ways with iRacing after it signed an exclusive licensing deal with Motorsport Games in 2022. However, the developer hit financial problems and IndyCar then terminated its license agreement, which followed similar moves from Nascar and the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC).

Comment:

Ben Hendricks, senior manager for esports and emerging virtual experiences at IndyCar, said: “We are very excited that our most avid gamers and fans will have full access to the IndyCar Series through this licensing agreement with iRacing. They are longtime partners, and we look forward to official IndyCar Series racing on iRacing for many years to come.”

Coming next:

The 2024 IndyCar season gets underway in St Petersburg, Florida, on 10th March.
