Haas F1 team achieve FIA three-star environmental accreditation

US team become sixth F1 outfit awarded green certification.

The Haas Formula One team have achieved three-star environmental accreditation from the International Automobile Federation (FIA), motorsport's global governing body.

  • Sixth F1 team to be awarded the accreditation
  • Haas achieved the two-star award in December 2021

Context: Haas follow Aston Martin, McLaren, Mercedes, Sauber and Williams in achieving the highest level of FIA sustainability certification. The team received the award following an in-person audit in December 2022.

Comment: Günther Steiner, Haas team principal, said: “It’s the highest level of sustainability accreditation awarded by the FIA to its stakeholders, and this has only spurred us on further to review policies and procedures to ensure we remain a benchmark for others. It yet again demonstrates that MoneyGram Haas F1 Team is a small but mighty team and that’s thanks to the passionate taskforce leading our sustainability efforts.”

Consequence: The team had to implement multiple initiatives to achieve the accreditation, including their UK site being powered by 100 per cent renewable energy and updating their travel and transport processes to minimise unnecessary travel outside of the racing calendar.
