- Monaco and Tokyo to host doubleheaders for first time
- UK round remains at the ExCeL as move to Silverstone doesn’t transpire
- Race in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia, will shift to new venue
- Jakarta returns after dropping off schedule for one year
Formula E has confirmed its 2024/25 schedule, which includes a switch to Miami in the US.
Portland had hosted the all-electric series for the past two seasons, but Formula E will now move to the Homestead-Miami Speedway.
There will also be a new venue in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia, which hosts the first doubleheader of the season.
Monaco and Tokyo will host doubleheader weekends for the first time, while Jakarta is set to return after the Indonesian round dropped off the schedule this season.
Despite reports of a switch to Silverstone, the ExCeL Arena in London will continue to host the season finale. The season-opening race switches to São Paulo in Brazil, which will take place on 7th December 2024. This marks the first time the series has spanned across two years since the 2019/20 campaign.
One slot is yet to be finalised. This is an improvement from this year’s schedule, which went live with three unconfirmed races.
BlackBook says…
This is a very global calendar for the sustainably-focused series, but the first five rounds take place in five separate months, somewhat negating the substantial distances between races.
A two-week gap between races in Monaco and Tokyo appears to be the worst offence, likely a result of both events being logistically difficult to organise.
The rumours of a race at Silverstone have not come to fruition, but it’s difficult to evaluate this result. On the one hand, it’s disappointing to not see the all-electric series at an iconic circuit, but Formula E has made a home for itself at the ExCeL.
A 17-race season will be its longest yet, so it will be interesting to see if Formula E can maintain its good momentum moving forward.
