Formula E signs up Nissan as Tokyo race partner

Japanese manufacturer first entered all-electric series in 2018/19 season.

Formula E has agreed a deal for Nissan Motor Company to be an official race partner of the inaugural Tokyo E-Prix.

Contract:

  • Collaboration will look to spotlight Nissan’s advanced material use, recycling technologies and social initiatives
  • Official race partnership to elevate Nissan’s position in EV performance both on and off track

Context:

Nissan first entered the all-electric series in the 2018/19 season, becoming the first ever Japanese manufacturer to join the championship. It also currently supplies the powertrain for the McLaren Formula E team, which won the last race in São Paulo with Sam Bird.

Formula E visits Tokyo for the fifth round of its 2024 season, the series’ first ever visit to the city. The E-Prix takes place on Saturday 30th March.
