Formula E has continued its domination of Enovation Consulting’s Sustainable Championships Index, topping the ranking for the fourth consecutive year.
Formula One finishes second once more, while MotoGP is outright third this year after being tied for the position with Extreme E in the 2024 ranking.
The index acts as an annual review of the environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance of motorsport championships around the world. This edition assessed 91 two- and four-wheeled championships.
According to the latest ranking, only 17 championships are yet to effectively start their sustainability journey, with the majority making positive steps towards a greener future. However, just 26 championships gained points compared to last year’s index.

Points are allocated against 25 industry-specific criteria across six categories: certifications, accreditations and awards, environmental criteria, social criteria, engagement and partnerships, and sustainability approach.
The championships are then given a score between 0 and 100 and then grouped into five ranked categories. Formula E and Formula One were the only series in the highest-ranked group.
The report also picks out the series that have made the biggest strides over the last 12 months, with the Asian Le Mans Series gaining 49 places compared to last year. Other big movers are the Speedway of Nations and the European Le Mans Series.
Enovation Consulting also picks out the World Rally Championship (WRC) as a championship to watch having made considerable progress on the sustainability front recently, with the series entering the top ten of the rankings for the first time. The championship was ranked 22nd two years ago.
