The Shanghai International Circuit, host of the Chinese Grand Prix between 2004 and 2019, has regained its Grade One license from the International Automobile Federation (FIA).
Confirmed:
- Previous license expired at the end of 2019
- China has not hosted a Grand Prix since due to the Covid pandemic
- Circuit manager Juss Sports carried out maintenance work to regain license
Context: The Chinese Grand Prix was set to return this season, but the country's coronavirus restrictions led to the Shanghai race being cancelled. Should Formula One return to the circuit next season, an inspector will be required to carry out a final examination one month before the event to confirm the track’s return.
