Extreme E to stream 2023 season on Recast

First venture into OTT sphere for sport for purpose championship.

All-electric off-road SUV championship Extreme E will broadcast the remainder of its 2023 season on global streaming platform Recast.

  • Instead of subscriptions, platform offers content to users through microtransactions

Context: Recast takes an innovative to monetising live content, with an in-platform currency called ‘Cast Credits’ required to watch streams. This means users only pay for what they watch, and content is priced from 1p per minute. According to the streaming platform, 85 per cent of the revenue generated goes directly to the publishers.
