The European Truck Racing Championship (ETRC) has been awarded the International Automobile Federation’s (FIA) highest level of environmental accreditation.
Confirmed:
- FIA’s three-star environmental accreditation is recognition for the series’ sustainability efforts
- Follows the likes of Formula One, Formula E, Extreme E, and the World Rally Championship (WRC) in being awarded the certification
Context:
Notably, not many motorsport series around the world have been awarded this accreditation, which highlights the strides being made by a relatively small championship compared to some of the global operations on that list. Back in January when Enovation Consulting named Formula E the most sustainable motorsport series for the third year running, ETRC was given a similar ranking to the likes of the World Endurance Championship (WEC), IndyCar and WRC.
With this news, ETRC follows its title partner Goodyear, which was awarded the three-star accreditation back in June. This covered the tyre manufacturer’s work with ETRC, as well as WEC, the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the European Le Mans Series.
Comment:
Georg Fuchs, managing director of the European Truck Racing Association (ETRA), said: “The FIA three-star environmental accreditation validates our efforts and underscores the collective commitment and shared strive for sustainability with our long-standing partners, local organisers – many of whom also hold environmental accreditations – our dedicated race teams and the FIA.”
Coming next:
ETRC returns for its fourth event of the season at the Nürburgring in Germany this weekend from 13th to 14th July.
