Aston Martin F1 team secure Citi deal

Bank has worked with new driver Fernando Alonso since 2016.

The Aston Martin Formula One team have secured a partnership with investment bank Citi.

Contract:

  • Citi branding will be visible on the halos of both cars
  • Expansion of existing contract with driver Fernando Alonso

Context: The American multinational investment bank began supporting Fernando Alonso in 2016, who replaced Sebastian Vettel at Aston Martin ahead of this season. Notably, Citi branding did not feature on Alonso’s cars during the Spaniard's time at McLaren and Alpine, although the company did support his entries into the Indianapolis 500 and Daytona 500.

Comment: Jefferson Slack, managing director for commercial and marketing at Aston Martin, said: “Citi's sponsorship is the latest addition to our fantastic portfolio of partners, and we look forward to supporting Citi's aim of driving deeper engagement within their communities.

“The well-established relationship with Fernando perfectly complements this new sponsorship and we look forward to developing a programme of activity that drives positive change together.”

Coming next: Citi branding will be visible on the Aston Martin car for the first time when it launches at the team's Silverstone campus on 13th February, before its competitive debut at the Bahrain Grand Prix on 5th March.
