WRC Promoter, which promotes the World Rally Championship (WRC), has extended its contract with Rally Finland until 2026.
Confirmed:
- Finland signs three-year extension to stay on the calendar
- Extensions also signed with host city Jyväskylä and title sponsor Secto Automotivera
Context: Rally Finland has been on the calendar since the inaugural season of WRC in 1973, but the event was first held back in 1951 as the modern rally format was being explored. Secto Automotive has been the event’s naming rights partner since 2021 and, although the length of the extension is not explicitly stated, it is expected that the deal will be in line with Rally Finland’s extension.
Comment: Jona Siebel, managing director of WRC Promoter, said: “The Finnish market holds immense significance for the WRC, and a season without a visit to the country's awe-inspiring rollercoaster roads is hard to imagine. This strategic decision aims to cultivate a harmonious and stable environment to promote the rally's growth and that of the entire WRC within this captivating arena.”
Coming next: The news of the extension comes ahead of this season’s Rally Finland, taking place from 3rd to 6th August.
