WEC’s Corvette Racing to transition categories in 2023

Team to step down from LMGTE Pro to LMGTE Am from next season.

Corvette Racing will transition into the Le Mans Grand Touring Endurance Amateur (LMGTE Am) category in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) from next season.

The Chevrolet factory team has axed their existing LMGTE Pro programme and will field a sole entry for the 2023 season.

However, it will remain with its single car in the GTD Pro category in the IMSA SportsCar Championship in the United States.

The General Motors brand is set to introduce a GT3 car for 2024, hinting at their switch to customer racing following their step down in the WEC, as this is the last season that the C8.R is allowed to compete against GT3 machinery.

Corvette will contest the full seven-race WEC calendar, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June.
