  • Broadcaster to air Extreme E's magazine shows
  • Sweden has 26% European market share for electric vehicles

Extreme E has announced that Swedish network Sportkanalen will broadcast all remaining races across the electric SUV series' inaugural season.

In addition, C More, Sportkanalen's digital platform, will air live coverage of all X Prix in Swedish and English. The channel will also broadcast Extreme E's magazine shows across the season.

An important target market for Extreme E, Sweden is one of the leading countries in the uptake of electric vehicles (EV). The European nation currently has a 26 per cent market share in this industry and its EV sales increased by 245 per cent since 2019.

"Sweden is a vital market for Extreme E and I am delighted to welcome Sportkanalen and C More to our broadcast menu," said Ali Russell, chief marketing officer at Extreme E.

"The population’s increasing usage of electric vehicles is great to see, particularly as the benefits of electrification are one of the key pillars of our championship.

"In addition, we also have an impressive cohort of Swedish talent amongst our driver line up this year. We are thrilled to have the likes of Johan Kristoffersson, Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky , Timmy Hansen and Mattias Ekström on the grid and I’m confident that this, as well as the ever-important environmental stories behind our sport for purpose series, will make for a captivating show for C More and Sportkanalen’s audiences."

Extreme is a brand-new electric SUV championship with a focus on sustainability. In its first season, the series will visit countries suffering from the impact of climate change - Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Greenland, Brazil and Argentina.
