The Supercars Championship has agreed a domestic media rights extension with Foxtel Group and Seven West Media.

The new agreement from 2026 is worth AUS$50 million (US$32.6 million) per season for the next four years, according to the Australian Financial Review (AFR).

Supercars described it as a ‘record-breaking broadcast deal’.

Every Supercars event will continue to be broadcast across Kayo Sports and Foxtel, while marquee events like the Bathurst 1000 and the Gold Coast 500 will be available free-to-air (FTA) on Seven.

The arrangement ensures every round will be live and ad-break free during racing.

“This is a monumental day for Supercars and our fans across Australia,” said James Warburton, chief executive of Supercars. “This multi-year deal secures our future, delivers unprecedented access, and elevates how we showcase our sport.

“The agreement with Foxtel Group and Seven is not only the biggest in our history, but demonstrates the strength, popularity and future potential of our category.”

The new pact comes ahead of the addition of Toyota as a new manufacturer in the Australian touring car series. The Japanese marque will race in Supercars on an initial five-year deal from next season.

“The next phase for Supercars will be among the most exciting in our history, starting in 2026 when Toyota, the world’s largest automotive brand, joins the grid,” continued Warburton.

“We’ll make our debut on New Zealand’s South Island with a spectacular Christchurch event as part of our double-header across the Tasman, introduce the new-look Finals Series, and explore opportunities for season-opening events at world-class venues.”

With the addition of a second event in New Zealand, Supercars has already moved to sign a four-year broadcast extension with Sky in the country.

It was reported in May that Supercars was targeting at least AUS$200 million from its next media rights deal in Australia.

Foxtel and Seven have held the rights since 2020, agreeing a deal worth around AUS$165 million (US$106 million). At the time, Supercars announced the deal was worth AUS$200 million, but this was in ‘cash and advertising’ which inflated the real value.

Supercars previously earned AUS$241 million (US$169 million) from its rights deals with Foxtel and Ten which expired in 2020, so the series has not quite returned to that lucrative level.

However, this new contract is worth more per year than the reported AUS$45 million (US$28.9 million) annual fee that Foxtel pays for the exclusive rights to Formula One in Australia.
