Speed Sport and Obsession Media to collaborate on new FAST motorsport channel

Speed Sport 1 channel will launch in 2023.

American motorsport publication Speed Sport is set to launch a new FAST channel in collaboration with Obsession Media.

Set to debut in spring 2023, the Speed Sport 1 channel will also benefit from the expertise of a group of motorsport and broadcast executives from the likes of ESPN, Fox Sports, MTV and Disney.

The new network is set to broadcast more than 400 live events, along with thousands of hours of motorsport content across free ad-supported streaming and linear platforms.

It will also broadcast motorsport events, behind-the-scenes content, lifestyle programming and documentaries. Dan Teitscheid has been named president and general manager of the new channel.

“Our goal since taking over the reins of Speed Sport has been to turn it into a complete motorsports media company, and now we’re fully realising that with Speed Sport 1,” said Joe Tripp, chief executive and co-founder of Speed Sport.

Obsession Media chief executive Nick Rhodes added: “The Obsession Media partners and investor have a long history in live sports, which is mostly missing from current FAST channel line-ups. We are thrilled to partner with the expert editorial resources of Speed Sport to create the definitive live racing channel.

“We have invested in scaling tools to package multiple channel offerings and look forward to Speed Sport1 building on the success of our first brand, Outdoor America.”
