Oracle Red Bull Racing and HJC Helmets have announced a multi-year partnership that will see the Korean manufacturer become the official supplier of pit crew head protection.
HJC Helmets has been a leader in head protection technology for five decades. Its lightweight, high-protection helmets are the choice of elite athletes everywhere, from the Tour de France to the Baja 1000.
This partnership extends Red Bull's existing connection with HJC, to keep its expertise onboard, in the form of a long-term relationship.
The Red Bull pit crew are holders of the world record for fastest pitstop and have been winners of the DHL Fastest Pitstop award for the past four years.
Staying at the top, against extremely motivated competition, only comes from paying attention to every single detail: the correct practice, the correct procedures, and the correct kit.
The team’s pit crew will be equipped with lightweight, modular RPHA90 and fiberglass F70 helmets; the latter has an ultrawide field of view.
“Safety is our absolute priority. Formula One is a team sport and nowhere is that better exemplified than during a pitstop, when hundredths of a second can win or lose a Grand Prix,” said Christian Horner, Oracle Red Bull Racing's team principal and chief executive.
“It can be a chaotic and hazardous environment and giving our award-winning pit crew safe and comfortable head protection is of the utmost importance.”
HJC chief executive, S.J. Hong, added: “We are very pleased to collaborate with 2021 F1 drivers’ championship winning team, Oracle Red Bull Racing. With the pit crew playing a critical role in the team’s success, we are happy to supply the Team with quality HJC helmets to provide protection and to enhance their performance.
“The majority of the team’s pit crew will be wearing our RPHA 90 modular helmet that was designed for both protection and comfort as they perform their challenging tasks. With the long season ahead, we wish Oracle Red Bull Racing great success in providing fans around the world with the exciting racing that we all love.”
