MotoGP’s Honda and Repsol extend partnership

Two-year contract extension adds to relationship dating back to 1995.

The Repsol Honda MotoGP team will continue their collaboration for another two years, extending a partnership that began in 1995.

Extending a presence in MotoGP until the end of 2024 means the Spanish petrochemical company will need to begin investing in sustainable fuels, as the global motorcycling series begins to make that transition at the start of next season.

With 40 per cent of the fuel for that season requiring a non-fossil origin, Repsol will start up an advanced biofuels plant in Spain in early 2023.

The announcement does not confirm whether Repsol will still be around by the time MotoGP moves to 100 per cent sustainable fuels in 2027.

In the 28 years of their partnership, the team has won 183 races and achieved 15 riders' world championships.
