MotoGP has teamed up with C15 Studio to launch a free, ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channel in the US.

Confirmed:

  • The MotoGP Channel to offer live coverage of practice and qualifying sessions at each race
  • Moto2, Moto3 and MotoE races will all be available live
  • Channel to also provide access to classic MotoGP races, documentaries and programming stunts

Context:

MotoGP already has a media rights deal with Fox Sports in the US, but launching a FAST channel in the country makes a lot of sense. It will help the series gain greater traction in a highly competitive sports market, while providing constant access to racing action will not only serve MotoGP’s established fanbase in the country but should also attract new fans to the product – and Fox Sports stands to benefit from both areas long term.

It’s worth remembering that between 1978 and 1993, only three non-American world champions were crowned in MotoGP – the US is a country with a rich heritage in motorcycle racing. In many ways, MotoGP’s challenge isn’t entering a new market but rediscovering an old one, and the creation of a FAST channel is a big step towards achieving that goal.

Comment:

“Our collaboration with C15 Studio on the MotoGP Channel opens an exciting new avenue for US fans to engage with the sport,” said Dan Rossomondo, chief commercial officer of MotoGP.

“Live coverage of MotoGP qualifying and practice, along with live Moto2 and Moto3 races, presents a fantastic opportunity for fans to tune into the action.

“The amazing range of content around-the-clock offers fans direct access to the very best of MotoGP – every time they tune in. We’re happy to expand our presence in the US and give fans a great new way to experience the sport.”

Coming next:

The MotoGP Channel launched on 13th August and is available on various streaming services, including Prime Video, LG Channels, FireTV, FuboTV, Plex and Sling Freestream.
