Dorna Sports, the rights holder of the MotoGP global motorcycling series, has expanded its broadcast agreement across the Nordic region with Viaplay Group.

Contract:

  • Six-year extension signed
  • Iceland and Finland added to Sweden, Norway and Denmark

Context: Viaplay will stream up to 400 live hours of the global motorcycle racing series in all five countries every year until 2028. This represents a similar deal to what Viaplay Group – then called Nordic Entertainment (Nent) Group – signed with Formula One in 2020.

Comment: Alex Arroyo, head of media rights at Dorna Sports, said: “We’re really happy to extend our agreement with Viaplay for another six seasons and to see our partnership extend from Sweden, Norway and Denmark to include Finland and Iceland. MotoGP enters a new era in 2023 as the MotoGP Sprint debuts at every event, and we have more races than ever with a 21-stop calendar.”

Coming next: The new season gets underway in Portugal on 26th March.
