McLaren Racing has announced the second year of its 60 Scholars STEM initiative for women, non-binary, and gender diverse individuals is now live.
Confirmed:
- 60 successful applicants will undertake a six-week course beginning in July
- Virtual sessions will be conducted in partnership with Google, Cisco and Deloitte
- Udemy to support the programme as official learning and skills partner
Context:
The accelerated course of learning and mentorship aims to open up pathways for a future career in the industry. This year is a more expanded scheme, with non-binary and gender diverse individuals included in the application process. It also expands the age range up to 25-year-olds, having only been open to those between the ages of 18 to 23 last year.
Comment:
Matt Dennington, co-chief commercial officer at McLaren Racing, said: “This is a great initiative to provide talented young women some support in entering the competitive world of STEM.
“We’re pleased to be offering the next cohort of future leaders in this field an opportunity to gain experience, but this wouldn’t be possible without the valued support of our partners who will each bring specific skills to this year’s programme.”
Coming next:
Applications for the 2024 programme are now open until 24th June to UK-based women, non-binary individuals, and those of gender diverse identities who are current- or former-STEM students aged 18 to 25.
