IndyCar to host US$1m non-championship event at The Thermal Club

IndyCar is will host a non-championship event at The Thermal Club during the 2024 season.

Confirmed:

  • Race will offer a multi-million dollar purse, with US$1 million going to the winner
  • There will be a charitable component to the race that will be announced at a later date
  • NBC will deliver a full network broadcast showcase for the event

Context:

While the IndyCar schedule for 2024 is yet to be finalised, the event will take place from 22nd to 24th March, which means it will likely fill the one-month gap that usually sits between the first and second races of the season.

Mark Miles, president and chief executive of Penske Entertainment Corp, said: “The NTT IndyCar Series will add an incredible new event to our schedule with next year’s spectacular racing showcase at The Thermal Club. This is likely to not be the only exhibition race on the calendar next year, with a long-rumoured event in Argentina close to being finalised. IndyCar officials previously toured the Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo in March.
