IndyCar refreshes OTT platform for 2023

IndyCar Live! first launched for 2022 season.

IndyCar has refreshed its over-the-top (OTT) platform IndyCar Live! for the 2023 season.

Contract:

  • Access to be fully localised in each market
  • OTT platform brings IndyCar coverage to dark markets
  • In-car cameras now available as supplement to live broadcast
  • Added comprehensive video on demand (VOD) archive

Context: IndyCar launched its OTT platform at the start of the 2022 season, which is available globally (excluding Russia and the US), in collaboration with Swedish sports streaming company Staylive.

Comment: Michael Montri, vice president of promoter and broadcast partnerships at IndyCar, said: “After a successful first season of OTT delivery in 2022, we have worked closely with Staylive to dive deep into data and shape our streaming and content strategy for 2023 and beyond. Staylive have taken a data driven approach in supporting our development across both technology and DTC strategy and we are delighted with the results seen over the weekend as we hit new audiences in markets previously invisible to us.”

Consequence: The move to refresh the platform and curate content on a country-by-country basis has seen “transactions and engagements from previously unreached markets”, according to Matt Parker, chief commercial officer at Staylive.
