IndyCar has lost Hy-Vee as the title sponsor of the Iowa race weekend but gained Snap-on in the same role for the Milwaukee event.

Confirmed:

  • Supermarket chain Hy-Vee will remain as an event sponsor for Iowa
  • Festival event will no longer form part of the Iowa weekend
  • Tool manufacturer Snap-on signs multi-year agreement to support the Milwaukee race

Context:

Hy-Vee first came on board to support the Iowa event in 2021, creating a weekend that stretched beyond two IndyCar races thanks to a concurrent music festival. This will no longer exist for this year’s race, so ticket prices will be ‘significantly reduced’ according to race officials.

Hy-Vee stepping back from its title sponsorship duties for Iowa follows its exit as the title sponsor of the Milwaukee event at the end of last year. The company also scaled back its involvement with the Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing team, having been a main sponsor for the outfit since 2020.

The Milwaukee race, though, has found its replacement with Snap-on, which has been a key sponsor for Team Penske since 1981.

Comment:

‘Hy-Vee will continue to be a key sponsor of IndyCar Race Weekend at Iowa Speedway this year, though the company will no longer serve as the title sponsor of the July 11-13 event,’ said the Iowa Speedway in a statement, as reported by Forbes.

‘We certainly appreciate all that Hy-Vee has done to support this event and the sport of IndyCar racing, and we look forward to our continued partnership in 2025.

‘Since IndyCar returned to Iowa in 2022, this event has grown with the passionate fans across the state and throughout the Midwest embracing the unique NTT IndyCar Series doubleheader race format and the exciting oval racing at the ‘Fastest Short Track on the Planet’.

‘We will continue to work closely with Hy-Vee and all of our event partners to build on the momentum of IndyCar Race Weekend at Iowa Speedway and add to its legacy as one of the most popular annual sporting events in the state of Iowa for years to come.’

Coming next:

The 2025 IndyCar season gets underway this weekend with the Grand Prix of St Petersburg from 28th February to 2nd March.
