- Italian and Spanish rounds expanded to mitigate pandemic issues
- Rome ePrix will take place on 10th and 11th April amid a nationwide lockdown
Electric single-seater series Formula E has announced a major calendar update ahead of the Rome ePrix.
The series' visits to Rome, Italy and Valencia, Spain have become double-header races amid concerns surrounding the pandemic.
‘Formula E will continue to monitor the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and is in constant communication with its community of teams, manufacturers, partners, broadcasters and host cities,’ Formula E said in a statement.
The Rome ePrix is still expected to go ahead on 10th and 11th April despite a country-wide lockdown following concerns surrounding vaccine rollout.
The Italian event was cancelled in 2020 due to the spread of the pandemic and was reinstated for 2021, and is set to take place after the season opener in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.
The series will visit Valencia on 24th and 25th April before heading to Monaco, Marrakech in Morocco and Santiago in Chile.
The ten rounds currently slated to take place are not the full Formula E calendar, with the series set to confirm the rest of the schedule “shortly”.
